Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has launched the Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan Scheme 2024 to provide free electricity by installing solar panels on the roofs of the houses of the citizens of rural areas using domestic electricity in the state, which will continue till the year 2026-27. Through this scheme, solar panels of up to 05 kW will be installed on the roofs of the houses of the citizens of the state, which will produce electricity from solar energy and the citizens will be able to use it, so that they will not have to pay any kind of electricity bill and their money will be saved and they will get electricity facility in their homes all the time.
The government of Goa state has announced a big budget of Rs 75,021 crore for this scheme. This scheme is similar to the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, which has been started on 31 July 2024.
